ROCKRIDGE BOOKING INFORMATION + TERMS & CONDITIONS
Your booking with us includes the full 31km multi-day hike, two nights in our beautiful Canterbury High Country, and all the deliciousness our Chef has curated for you. From hearty meals to stunning scenery, it’s all taken care of.
We recommend designating one person in your group as the lead contact. This person will handle the booking and coordination for the group. Whether you're booking for 2, 6, or 10 people, it keeps things simple and streamlined.
DEPOSIT AND PAYMENT TERMS
To confirm your spot, a deposit of NZ $385 per person is required. If you are paying via bank transfer, we’ll email you our account details. Your booking isn’t secured until the deposit is received.
If you are booking as a group, we recommend the lead contact collect all individual deposits and make one payment. This way, we can easily keep track of everything. We’re happy to give you a couple of days to get this sorted.
Your balance is due 8 weeks before your scheduled walk. Feel free to make individual payments for the remaining amount, however just make sure to include your booking reference number with each transaction.
Please note a surcharge applies to all credit card transactions.
We limit each group to a maximum of 10 people per day.
ROOM SHARING POLICY
You will never be asked to share a bedroom with a stranger at RockRidge. All bedrooms are private and reserved for you and your group only.
Please note if you book for 10 people you will have the accommodation at Birchview Homestead & Quartz Hill Quarters exclusively for your group . If your group size is smaller than 10 people then the common area's at the accommodation such as, living rooms, bathrooms, kitchen and outdoor areas will be shared with other group members.
SOLO TRAVELLERS
For those flying solo, reach out to us directly to book, and we’ll help you find the best dates for your adventure. A $485 single supplement may apply, depending on room availability and group numbers.
BOOKING ONLINE
• The date you select on the calendar is your arrival date to Birchview Homestead ( from 4.30pm )
• You do not need to select the second night — just make sure your first night is available.
• If you’re not sure about all the names for your group yet, just use “###” and we’ll follow up closer to your arrival date.
• Need to add more people to your group? No problem, just email us, and we’ll update your booking.
DIETARY REQUIREMENTS
To ensure you have the best experience, please provide your dietary requirements to us at least 14 days before your arrival. Our chef is dedicated to crafting meals that cater to your needs, and with advance notice, we can make sure everything is perfectly prepared for you.
We can cater for the following dietary needs:
Vegetarian
Pescatarian
Gluten/Wheat Free
Dairy Free
Nut Free
Vegan
Coeliac
If your dietary needs fall outside of these categories, please let us know. We’ll do our best to accommodate you, however an $85.00 total surcharge will apply for any special requests that require additional preparation or ingredients.
CANCELLATIONS & CHANGES
We understand that plans can change, so if you need to cancel or modify your booking, please let us know by sending an email to hello@rockridge.co.nz. Here’s the breakdown of our cancellation fees:
More than 90 days before your walk: full refund minus NZ $100 administration fee per person.
60–89 days before: NZ $385
20–59 days before: 50% of the full fare
Within 20 days of departure: 100% of the fare (non-refundable)
Transferring Your Booking; You can transfer your booking to someone else at no extra charge. Simply email us with your booking reference and the updated guest details.
Changing Seasons or Dates; If you wish to change dates 60 days before your walk is booked & need to move your booking to a different season, we’ll happily work with you, subject to availability. The new season's pricing will apply.
Your safety is our top priority. In the event of weather disruptions or natural disasters, here’s what happens:
Weather-Related Cancellations (MetService Red or Orange Warnings) if this happens before Arrival Day: You’ll receive a full RockRidge credit note /gift voucher.
If your stay is partially affected due to a weather warning we will discuss all options with you at the time.
If you cancel without an official warning being issued due to anticipated weather concerns standard cancellation terms apply.
Rescheduling if your trip is impacted by an official weather warning; you’ll have the option to reschedule within 12 months of your original date, subject to availability.
In case of major natural events like earthquakes or cyclones that prevent access to RockRidge, we’ll issue a full credit note/gift voucher or allow you to reschedule.
We highly recommend purchasing travel insurance to cover unforeseen events, including weather disruptions or other unanticipated situations.
